Fadogia Agrestis and everything you need to know about it.
What is Fadogia Agrestis?
Fadogia agrestis is a plant that was traditionally used to treat erectile dysfunction. It’s often hailed from Nigeria, but can be found throughout sub-Saharan Africa. It has long been used as an herbal treatment and is now becoming more and more popular as various health & fitness personalities have promoted it.
Benefits of Fadogia Agrestis
Some of the claimed benefits of fadogia agrestis include:

-
Improved sexual performance for men
-
Increased sex drive
-
Prolonged sexual performance
-
Higher overall testosterone
-
Better muscle building and aesthetics

There also seem to be some possibilities that this supplement may contain antiplasmodial properties and be helpful with preventing certain illnesses (although more study here is needed).

A study was conducted and the male rates were orally dosed with 18 mg/kg, 50 mg/kg, and 100 mg/kg body weight, respectively, of the extract at 24 h intervals and their sexual behavior parameters and serum testosterone concentration were evaluated at days 1, 3 and 5.

The aqueous extract of Fadogia agrestis stem increased the blood testosterone concentrations and this may be the mechanism responsible for its aphrodisiac effects and various masculine behaviors. It may be used to modify impaired sexual functions in animals, especially those arising from hypotestosteronemia.

Fadogia Agrestis as a supplement
Fadogia Agrestis is typically taken as a supplement primarily to increase the function of the sex organs.
While traditionally the supplement was used as an aphrodisiac, it’s become more popular lately as a pure testosterone booster - and while there is more research needed - it does seem highly promising in that regard.
How Does Fadogia Agrestis Work?
Fadogia works by increasing luteinizing hormone which can increase testosterone. It stimulates the testes to create more testosterone. This increases testosterone (without seemingly increasing estrogen).
It also does not seem to down-regulate other LH over time - although you should carefully monitor this on your own by doing regular blood work.
Fadogia Agrestis Dosage
Optimal dosages of fadogia agrestis are still not known as there is more to study, but there has been research done on specific ranges. Andrew Huberman recommends taking about 425mg daily according to his podcast and said it raised his testosterone about 200 points.
What Are The Side Effects of Fadogia Agrestis?
The side effect profiles of fadogia agrestis are not currently well known.
There is a concern that there is an association with damaged cell membranes due to the supplement, but it’s not currently known how much of a concern this even should be.
